About Mrs. Dunn
Hello and welcome. My name is Priscilla Dunn. This is my second year with Hickory Public Schools, I am so excited to be at Southwest Primary as an Exceptional Children's Teacher! I graduated Summa cum Laude from Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education and added on a Special Education license through East Carolina University. I achieved National Board Certification in 2009. I've had wonderful experiences teaching in both general and special education classrooms. This year, I am serving students in the K-2 classroom with reading, math, writing, and social skill supports. I have been fortunate to be a part of many educational initiatives including the birth of Response to Instruction, Governor's Teacher Network, Hope Street Group, National Board, and North Carolina Core Advocates. I currently conduct English Language Arts educational material reviews for EdReports Organization. I am also a proud member of NCAE, NEA, and Hickory City Schools Educators Organization, and an outspoken proponent of public education. I am a part of the NBCT caucus organization and spend some time supporting aspiring teachers in the National Board process. In my free time, I love to hike, travel, listen to live music, read, and spend time with my family. In 2017-18, I was Southwest Primary's Wilmer Jenkins Teacher of the Year.
With Keni Thomas, Army Ranger who's story is portrayed in Blackhawk Down.
